Graduate funding

Science can only develop further if graduates and postdocs are given perspectives to pursue original research questions and ideas. Therefore, we cordially invite prospective doctoral candidates and postdocs in the field of Polish Studies to join the Centre with new projects. If possible, the projects should be linked to one of the three research fields of the Centre in order to intensify their discussion.

Currently, all available doctoral and postdoctoral positions are filled, but there is the possibility of acquiring external funding with the support of the professors at the Centre. All party-affiliated, denominational and non-denominational foundations are eligible for doctoral funding. In addition, we would like to draw your attention to the state of Saxony-Anhalt's graduate funding. For postdocs, we particularly recommend the "Eigene Stelle" format and, for creative group projects, the DFG's Emmy Noether Programme. Other attractive options are the postdoctoral fellowships of the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the programme "Offen - für Außergewöhnliches" of the Volkswagen Foundation and the programme "Harmonia" of the Narodowe Centrum Nauki. Please write to us if you would like to discuss applying for a new project.

Beyond the implementation of concrete projects at the Centre, we are interested in improving the interdisciplinary networking of PhD students and postdocs in the field of Polish Studies. We are working to create optimal structural conditions for PhDs and postdoc projects in an internationally oriented research environment through concrete events and social media.
